Gaps in Monthly Registry Source Ingestion

(Updated on 20 August 2026)

Global Fishing Watch cross-references more than 40 public vessel registries to match vessel information with AIS and VMS tracking data, delivering comprehensive and historical insights into vessel identities and activities.

Most public registry sources we gather are obtained monthly and are published on the Global Fishing Watch platform the following month, with potential latency of up to two months for vessel identity and/or authorization data.

In June 2026, our ingestion pipeline encountered technical integration issues. As a result, our August 2026 dataset does not contain updates for the following sources:

We are pleased that the EU Vessel Registry was restored in our August 2026 data update, though data gaps between May 1 and July 1, 2026, have not been backfilled.

See the full list of public registries from which Global Fishing Watch regularly ingests data.

We recommend cross-verifying vessel and/or authorization information, particularly on vessels flagged in the above registered country or region directly through the data source.

Our team is actively working to address and recover the data. Where possible, data gaps will be backfilled.
