New Vessel Detections Dataset in APIs

Global Fishing Watch has released a new API dataset for 4wings API (Application Programming Interface). Anyone can now:

  • Show vessel detections from Sentinel-1 SAR (Synthetic-aperture radar) on a map
    • Using the generate-png and /tile/heatmap/ APIs, create a map in PNG or MVT format and display SAR vessel detection filtered by AIS matched or unmatched.
  • Create an interactive map in MVT format
    • Using the interactive API, allow your users to explore SAR vessel detections globally and get details of the vessel where there is AIS matching.
  • Generate a report and download data
    • Utilize all the features of the report API, including conducting detailed analyses within specific buffer zones linked to particular regions, now leveraging the new dataset on SAR vessel detections as the data source.
  • This new API dataset offers the same data and details as our public Map. For additional fields related to vessel detections from Sentinel-1 SAR like length_m or any of the scores like presence_score, matching_score or fishing_score, you can refer to the Data Download Portal.

For precise information regarding this new dataset, please refer to the API dataset section and consult the APIs Release Notes.

To learn more, check out the examples on the right hand in the API documentation or download the Postman collection on the Global Fishing Watch site. Share feedback through our public Canny board. For support, email [email protected].
