Enrique Tuya

As chief technology and product officer, Enrique Tuya leads the engineering and product development work at Global Fishing Watch and oversees the collection, generation and publication of the organization’s data. Synchronizing these efforts, Tuya seeks to deliver high-quality products and up-to-date datasets in a simple and accessible way, enabling a wide range of audiences to access, interact and understand complex information. 

With more than 17 years of experience in the software industry, working in data processing and project management, Tuya has successfully integrated several industry standards into Global Fishing Watch’s workflow, allowing the nonprofit to scale its efforts while maintaining the creativity and innovation that helped launch the organization in 2017. Motivated by a desire to find simple solutions for complex problems, Tuya has driven the evolution of Global Fishing Watch’s products and data—including the map and carrier vessel portal, Marine Manager, Vessel Viewer and APIs—to ensure the insights being produced are actionable by more people and less dependent on technical skills or hardware requirements. 

Prior to Global Fishing Watch, Tuya worked as a software developer, technology lead and project manager for different software factory companies spanning finance, health and telecommunications industries.  

He holds a degree in computer science from CAECE University in Argentina.
