Dhiya supports Global Fishing Watch’s work in Asia through close engagement with local stakeholders to support fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance initiatives. Bringing extensive experience in marine conservation and natural resource management from the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Dhiya employs her data analysis expertise, language skills and cultural awareness to optimize Global Fishing Watch’s engagement in this dynamic region.

Before coming to Global Fishing Watch, Dhiya worked on multiple projects at SkyTruth, harnessing the power of technology to identify and tackle environmental problems.  For nearly a decade, Dhiya has been working to strengthen fisheries management and support fishing communities in South Asia. As a program officer at World Wildlife Fund-Pakistan, Dhiya helped organize the first conference on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in the country. 

Dhiya holds a master’s of science in ocean resources from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology

In her free time, Dhiya enjoys swimming and staying active with capoeira.
