Leah Buckley is a product manager at Global Fishing Watch. She is responsible for developing tools that help strengthen oversight and due diligence efforts among government authorities and the private sector to better assess risks of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and other negative outcomes. Her work aims to show the value of transparency and data sharing to identify, manage and mitigate risk factors that impact marine life and the communities that rely on our oceans. She brings to the role 10 years of experience in multi-stakeholder engagement, policy development and project management.

Prior to Global Fishing Watch, Leah was a senior manager on the social policy and supply chain standards teams at the Marine Stewardship Council, where she led policy development and program oversight on forced labor risks, seafood traceability and supply chain assurance. She is motivated to make a positive contribution towards solving the governance challenges facing the global seafood industry. Leah is an ISO: 9001:2015 qualified lead auditor and holds a master’s degree in international public policy from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Ontario. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, running and trying new foods.
