Chih-Yu is a Fisheries Analyst focusing on Global Fishing Watch’s Taiwan FOC vessels project to provide analytical support for identifying potential FOC vessels and building risk assessment models. With more than 10 years of experience in GIS, he brings expertise in spatial data computing, environmental impact modeling, Big Data analytics, and web platform architectures to the team.
Before joining Global Fishing Watch, Chih-Yu worked as a GIS Specialist in Academia Sinica to establish end-to-end web GIS services for agricultural surveys. After that, he worked in a telecom company to design spatial data products and create data-driven solutions in urban mobility, agriculture, and marine science for governmental agencies. Chih-Yu had finished PhD courses in University of Oklahoma, USA and received his MSc in Geography from National Taiwan University. Chih-Yu enjoys hiking, cycling, and reading in his leisure time.
