You can filter different data and each data has unique attributes that can be used for filtering. Some of the filters that can be found are:

  • You can filter the apparent fishing effort by clicking on the filter icon in the Activity section. Depending on the source, you have different options:
    • Automatic identification system (AIS)
      • Flags: To filter AIS apparent fishing effort data by flag, choose the country or countries that you would like to view.
      • Gear Types: To filter AIS apparent fishing effort data by gear type, select the types of gear you are interested in from the dropdown menu.
      • Vessel groups: To filter AIS apparent fishing effort data by vessel groups, select a previous group you have created in the dropdown.
    • Vessel monitoring system (VMS) data can be filtered by flag and, in some cases, by gear type, fleet and origin.
  • In the Vessels section
    • To filter vessels results, you first need to Login with your Global Fishing Watch account and you can filter by different criteria like source, flag and active dates (period when the vessel was actively transmitting positions).
