style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La comunidad global se ha reunido nuevamente en las Naciones Unidas, en Nueva York, para dar forma al futuro de nuestro oc\u00e9ano. Los Estados Miembros se han congregado para la tercera y \u00faltima Comisi\u00f3n Preparatoria del <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/statement\/the-high-seas-treaty-is-now-in-force-transparency-will-determine-its-success\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tratado de Alta Mar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, tambi\u00e9n conocido como el Acuerdo sobre la Diversidad Biol\u00f3gica Marina de las \u00c1reas m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la Jurisdicci\u00f3n Nacional (BBNJ, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), con un enfoque que pasa de la ambici\u00f3n a la implementaci\u00f3n. La tarea que tenemos por delante es clara: garantizar que la protecci\u00f3n de la alta mar se base en un marco de rendici\u00f3n de cuentas, sustentado en la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/es\/transparencia\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">transparencia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, la gesti\u00f3n basada en datos y una aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Tratado de Alta Mar se fundamenta en un principio poderoso: el oc\u00e9ano, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las fronteras nacionales, es patrimonio com\u00fan de la humanidad. Pero un patrimonio compartido no puede protegerse si permanece invisible. Durante demasiado tiempo, la alta mar ha sido una frontera donde la actividad industrial ocurre fuera de la vista y de la mente. En la ONU, el mensaje para los delegados es claro: lo que sucede en los bienes comunes globales debe ser de conocimiento p\u00fablico.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En Global Fishing Watch sabemos que la transparencia es lo que transforma la protecci\u00f3n del oc\u00e9ano de una promesa en una realidad. Hemos logrado avances reales al situar la transparencia en el centro de la gobernanza oce\u00e1nica mediante el seguimiento satelital, los datos abiertos y el an\u00e1lisis impulsado por la inteligencia artificial, que hacen que la actividad humana en el mar sea medible, verificable y aplicable. Nuestras herramientas de c\u00f3digo abierto y alta calidad ya est\u00e1n ayudando a gobiernos y socios a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/success-story\/in-southeast-asia-capacity-building-efforts-bolster-marine-protection\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">designar y monitorear<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00e1reas marinas protegidas, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/es\/historias\/marine-manager-apoya-la-gestion-eficaz-del-parque-nacional-isla-del-coco\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">disuadir actividades ilegales<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y avanzar de manera concreta hacia metas globales como el 30&#215;30.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A medida que los delegados definen las reglas que guiar\u00e1n la implementaci\u00f3n del Tratado de Alta Mar, deben esforzarse por incorporar la transparencia desde el inicio. Esto implica garantizar que el seguimiento de embarcaciones, el acceso p\u00fablico a los datos y los requisitos de monitoreo formen parte de la manera en que se designan, eval\u00faan y reportan las \u00e1reas marinas protegidas en alta mar.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un oc\u00e9ano protegido y un mecanismo de rendici\u00f3n de cuentas en alta mar est\u00e1n a nuestro alcance.
