a\u00f1os para cumplir con metas globales cr\u00edticas, el llamado a proteger los ecosistemas marinos del mundo nunca ha sido m\u00e1s urgente.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cc07252 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cc07252\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El plazo de 2030 para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de las Naciones Unidas se acerca r\u00e1pidamente. Gobiernos de todo el mundo se han comprometido a cumplir un conjunto de metas destinadas a abordar desaf\u00edos globales \u2014desde la pobreza y la salud hasta la educaci\u00f3n y el medio ambiente\u2014. Sin embargo, a medida que se acerca la fecha l\u00edmite, el <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\/goal14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ODS 14: Vida Submarina<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014que busca conservar y utilizar sosteniblemente los oc\u00e9anos, los mares y los recursos marinos para el desarrollo sostenible\u2014 sigue siendo uno de los objetivos menos financiados y con menor progreso. Al mismo tiempo, se necesita una acci\u00f3n acelerada para cumplir con el objetivo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbd.int\/gbf\/targets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30&#215;30<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, un compromiso global adoptado por 196 pa\u00edses para proteger el 30 por ciento del planeta \u2014tierra y oc\u00e9ano\u2014 para 2030, como parte del<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbd.int\/gbf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Marco Mundial de la Biodiversidad de Kunming-Montreal.<\/span><\/a><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La tercera Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre los Oc\u00e9anos (UNOC3), que comienza el 9 de junio en Niza, Francia, representa una oportunidad cr\u00edtica para retomar el rumbo. El tema de este a\u00f1o: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/es\/conferences\/ocean2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAcelerar la acci\u00f3n y movilizar a todos los actores para conservar y utilizar sosteniblemente el oc\u00e9ano\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, subraya la creciente urgencia de pasar del compromiso a la acci\u00f3n colectiva significativa para proteger nuestro oc\u00e9ano compartido. Con miles de millones de personas dependiendo del oc\u00e9ano para su alimentaci\u00f3n y medios de vida, la inacci\u00f3n y los retrasos tendr\u00edan consecuencias devastadoras.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pero para actuar de manera efectiva, necesitamos informaci\u00f3n cre\u00edble y una imagen clara de lo que sucede en el mar. Despu\u00e9s de todo, no se puede gestionar lo que no se puede ver. Y durante demasiado tiempo, gran parte de lo que ocurre sobre y bajo el agua ha permanecido oculto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La buena noticia es que esto est\u00e1 empezando a cambiar. Cada d\u00eda, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/es\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Global Fishing Watch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ayuda a revelar la actividad humana en el oc\u00e9ano. Mediante el uso de datos abiertos y tecnolog\u00eda, estamos rastreando cerca de 100.000 embarcaciones pesqueras industriales en tiempo casi real a trav\u00e9s de nuestro <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalfishingwatch.org\/es\/nuestro-mapa\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mapa p\u00fablico y de c\u00f3digo abierto.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Nuestras herramientas ya est\u00e1n ayudando a combatir la pesca ilegal, proteger el oc\u00e9ano y fortalecer la gesti\u00f3n sostenible de los recursos marinos.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed2ef55 elementor-invisible elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ed2ef55\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;fadeIn&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Por qu\u00e9 la UNOC3 debe ser un punto de inflexi\u00f3n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-892fc81 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"892fc81\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A pesar de la magnitud de la actividad humana en el mar, gran parte sigue ocurriendo fuera de vista. La mayor\u00eda de las embarcaciones no son rastreadas. La propiedad permanece opaca. Esta falta de transparencia hace que sea casi imposible responsabilizar a los actores que act\u00faan de forma indebida, ni garantizar que las pesquer\u00edas bien gestionadas reciban el reconocimiento y apoyo que merecen.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La transparencia no es solo algo deseable, es la base de una gobernanza oce\u00e1nica eficaz. Sin ella, avanzamos a ciegas frente a una crisis oce\u00e1nica acelerada.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A medida que jefes de Estado, responsables pol\u00edticos, cient\u00edficos, fil\u00e1ntropos, j\u00f3venes l\u00edderes y representantes de la sociedad civil se re\u00fanan en Niza, ha llegado el momento de pasar decisivamente de la ambici\u00f3n a la acci\u00f3n. Por eso, Global Fishing Watch hace un llamado a los gobiernos para que aceleren la transparencia en la gesti\u00f3n pesquera en dos \u00e1reas clave.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Primero, estamos pidiendo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YPU3CEz-mHw\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">un acuerdo vinculante sobre el rastreo de embarcaciones \u2014uno que exija que las flotas industriales sean rastreadas p\u00fablicamente.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Y segundo, abogamos por que se identifique y publique al beneficiario final de las embarcaciones pesqueras industriales. Estas dos iniciativas no s\u00f3lo mostrar\u00edan d\u00f3nde y qui\u00e9n est\u00e1 pescando, sino que tambi\u00e9n dejar\u00edan claro qui\u00e9n se beneficia, a\u00f1adiendo una capa crucial de rendici\u00f3n de cuentas al hacer visible la actividad pesquera.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Declaraci\u00f3n de Niza<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, titulada <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abNuestro oc\u00e9ano, nuestro futuro: acelerar la acci\u00f3n\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ser\u00e1 publicada al final de la UNOC3 (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-12\/UNOC3%20declaration%20-%20zero%20draft.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">borrador cero<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). A medida que los l\u00edderes se comprometen a crear m\u00e1s \u00e1reas protegidas como parte de sus metas 30&#215;30, deben asegurarse de que estas zonas est\u00e9n estrat\u00e9gicamente ubicadas, debidamente designadas, bien gestionadas y eficazmente monitoreadas, con sanciones estrictas para quienes realicen actividades il\u00edcitas en sus l\u00edmites. Las aguas internacionales cubren casi la mitad del planeta, pero solo el 1,5 por ciento de ellas est\u00e1 efectivamente protegidas.
