Cuando los aplicamos a los datos de movimiento de embarcaciones, podemos evaluar con mayor precisi\u00f3n la actividad pesquera y ayudar a los tomadores de decisiones a administrar las pesquer\u00edas globales de manera m\u00e1s equitativa y sostenible.<\/span><\/p><h4><b>Una medida m\u00e1s real de los costos de pesca<\/b><\/h4><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentaci\u00f3n estima que m\u00e1s de mil millones de personas dependen del pescado como fuente principal de prote\u00ednas. Para comprender realmente el impacto de la pesca a esta escala y dirigir mejor los esfuerzos de conservaci\u00f3n, debemos medir la presencia y la intensidad de la actividad pesquera en todo el mundo.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los datos del sistema de identificaci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica (AIS) proporcionan rutas detalladas de decenas de miles de barcos pesqueros. Sin embargo, estos datos solo revelan la presencia de las embarcaciones. Para una evaluaci\u00f3n precisa del impacto, necesitamos caracterizar m\u00e1s completamente la actividad pesquera y diferenciarla de la actividad no pesquera. Hay muchos vac\u00edos de conocimiento que llenar, como los impactos por tipo de arte de pesca, la captura incidental de aves marinas durante el calado y la alteraci\u00f3n del h\u00e1bitat del fondo del oc\u00e9ano por parte de los barcos de arrastre. Para comprender mejor los problemas y las posibles soluciones, es importante medir m\u00e1s de cerca d\u00f3nde, cu\u00e1ndo y cu\u00e1nto se pesca, en particular con tipos de artes de alto impacto.<\/span><\/p><h4><b>Conectando los puntos en la actividad pesquera<\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/h4><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para diferenciar la actividad de los barcos, desarrollamos un modelo utilizando una red neuronal convolucional, un algoritmo para organizar im\u00e1genes y datos, que clasifica cada posici\u00f3n AIS como pesca o no pesca para obtener una representaci\u00f3n precisa de la actividad pesquera global. Para abordar la necesidad de una clasificaci\u00f3n detallada del comportamiento de pesca, tambi\u00e9n desarrollamos un modelo especializado que estima d\u00f3nde y cu\u00e1ndo un buque palangrero comienza y termina su actividad de calado, lance y tr\u00e1nsito. Esta informaci\u00f3n se puede utilizar para informar las medidas de gesti\u00f3n y ayudar a controlar el cumplimiento de la normativa vigente. Estamos desarrollando modelos similares para la pesca de arrastre y hay proyectos piloto en curso utilizando soluciones tecnol\u00f3gicas alternativas para rastrear embarcaciones pesqueras de
