Heather Stevens

Board Secretary

Founding trustee, The Waterloo Foundation

Heather Stevens and her husband, David, founded The Waterloo Foundation, based in the U.K., which she now chairs. With conservation efforts focused on the ocean and tropical forests, Waterloo has supported campaigns to combat illegal fishing in West Africa and improve the fishing industry and marine life in the Pacific Coral Triangle. Stevens is also chair of the Greenpeace U.K. Oceans board, and served on the board of directors of Oceana from 2010 to 2020, during which Oceana solidified its stature as one of the world’s leading marine protection organizations.

Prior to focusing full time on conservation, she helped create Admiral, the U.K.’s leading car insurance company, which is now worth more than £7 billion. Stevens was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2010 and served as High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 2015, a one-year nonpolitical appointment responsible for supporting the Crown and judiciary as well as promoting community initiatives.

Stevens earned a degree in psychology from Oxford University. She is a Pro-Chancellor and honorary fellow of Cardiff University and an honorary visiting professor in their college of biomedical and life sciences.
